14% of the population is Physically handicapped, So in perspective about 2 gamers out of every 140 gamers are Physically Handicapped. So when you see 40,000 Eve Gamers online, a staggering 5,600 of them are physically handicapped. That equates to $84,000.00 a month in revenue to CCP. These dedicated Gamers who use eve as a social outlet must be taken into consideration whenever a new change with eve occurs.

For those with limited function or accessibility to the real-world eve has become a tool for social interaction.

Despite the horrible interface, time-sinks and deliberate UI gaps, the game has become quite popular with many in this position.

Unfortunately there have been times when elements of the game have been changed which give no consideration for the impact it'll have on these individuals.

I propose like the economist CCP has hired they also have a accessibility group which reviews increments to the engine against their own test-cases. This body could also work on ensuring various human interface devices (HID) work with the engine and possibly even working with manufacturers to improve some of these devices with experiences gained from eve users.

They could even go onto advocacy, introducing people trapped in hospital beds to the game as a form of therapy.

Imagine for a moment you're in this situation and how much eve could mean to your quality of life.

Imagine that the latest patch made your HID stop working.....

Keeping Eve accessible to the physically disabled will retain many of their Veteran players.

My best friend is a Quadriplegic. He has limited use of his hands, and no use of his legs. He plays eve ever day and interacts with the Eve community daily. Only because of the accessibility of Eve-Online is he able to participate. This is very important to keep in mind that eve is a game that you do not have to have dexterity in your hands to play. Ensuring that Eve stays accessible to everyone should be a priority.
