Overview[edit]

Gehen Sealbreaker is a scientist and the founder / CEO of Sealbreaker Labs.

His scientific work is well recognized in New Eden's scientific community. Some of it was made available to the general public and can be downloaded at Site One in Eram. He is generally seen as open-minded and progressive, at least compared to other Amarrians. Disclosed CONCORD files suggest that he is honorable and loyal, but has rather gray ethics.

Personnality[edit]

As the involvement of Gehen Sealbreaker in New Eden's scientific community grew, some of his personality quirks and other oddities became more obvious.

People working with him agree on the fact that he's unevenly tempered, and moody. He can exhibit subtle displays of diplomacy, yet throw fits of rage on a frustrating experiment.

One particular (unverified) story adds to the bizarre impression the "Pr. Sealbreaker" leaves: he lost his left arm in some industrial accident, and, having survived the wound, got an augmentative prosthetic arm. (Interestingly enough, he chose a Phanca F-706.574, the same model that is used by many members of the Amarr Ardishapur family, despite having no known ties to this bloodline.)

The uncommon - and somehow unsettling - side of this, is the persistence of the arm, which is still sported by Gehen Sealbreaker after records state that he "died" at least twice. This suggest that he had his medical clones amputated and equipped with the same arm, rather than recovering a "true" arm as a side-effect of clone activation. Lab employees assure that the arm in question is particularly equipped in terms of thermic and radiation resistance plating, and Pr. Sealbreaker often use it to manipulate directly substances or devices that would burn or otherwise destroy flesh in seconds.

History[edit]

Early history[edit]

Little is known about Gehen Sealbreaker's early life. He is the second son of the Sealbreaker House, a minor Holders family, born from parents who were working in diplomatic relationships for the Amarr Empire, mainly in Khanid space.

Despite earning some degrees in various schools and universities all around Amarr and Khanid space, it seems that Gehen was a mediocre student. Some notes left by former professors described him as "A sharp and brilliant mind, but with trouble focusing on a task, who is incapable of achieving his potential due to an unstable familial environment."

Having graduated as a astrophysics major, he quickly manifests a great interest in theories around the space-time continuum. He enjoys space travel and quickly gets a license to pilot shuttles and other civilian vessels, vessels he bought thanks to research grants. His first significant publication, about star life cycles, date back to YC 92. (No link found)

In YC 105, realizing the limits of his possibilities as an ordinary Amarrian researcher, Gehen Sealbreaker aims to enter a university again, aiming for one of the prestigious corporations that are allowed to deliver capsuleer licenses to their graduates. For reasons not disclosed to the public, he is not accepted in the Royal Amarr Institute, but successfully take the entrance tests to the Imperial Academy. Taking the courses in a slow way, as he's frequently flying non-capsule-ready vessels to continue his research, he graduates with YC 108 promotion.

After two years of working as a freelancer for various Amarr and Khanid corporations, he had gathered enough money to create Sealbreaker and Associates, a small research structure, and hired a private capsuleer militia to defend it against pirates and competitors. This first attempt at running a corporation was more or less successful, and lasted roughly two years. It was closed shortly after the discovery of Unknown space, in YC 111.

YC 111: Rise and recognition[edit]

The circumstances under which Gehen Sealbreaker - now more often called "Pr. Sealbreaker" - came to work on the Legion Strategic Cruiser prototypes, and under what lead, are still classified information. Little is known - but some parts of the Legion navigation system undoubtedly bear the marks of his engineering, and his knowledge of Strategic Cruisers is recognized even by most of his fiercest competitors.

Even if he was only a cog in the machine in the design of the first Legion, and did only leave a trace on some particular parts and components, this work is probably what attracted the interest of Night Shadows Development, a small industrial corporation tied to the Night Shadows group, itself being more or less close to Paxton Federation and other Providence Holders.

From that point on, it seems Gehen Sealbreaker has always managed to find work in environments where he could both continue his research and benefit from the protection of more combat-oriented pilots.

He was put in charge of assembling a Strategic Cruiser fleet for N.S. and conduct their wormhole exploration program. Both projects came to an early stop when Curatores Veritatis Alliance and their allies were pushed away from Providence, and N.S. caught in the struggle.

Forced out of Providence, the Pr. Sealbreaker left N.S. with a small group of supporters, and retreated to unknown space, from where he continued his research for a few months, in the resurrected Sealbreaker and Associates, now called Sealbreaker Labs.

He later found a new employer, Ehckuah Incorporated, a capsuleer paramilitary corp affiliated to the State Protectorate. The reasons which led him to accept their offer despite wanting to avoid any political bias are still unknown.

YC 112: The war against Nation[edit]

The recent events (as of November YC 112) with the incursions of a reborn Sansha's Nation in Empire Space, was an important event in Pr. Sealbreaker's life. Due to the way Nation's minions were able to open wormholes at will, and attack virtually any system without warning, his scientific interest for the technology behind this feat grew on par with his sympathy for the abducted civilians.

He left Ekchuah Inc. to offer his assistance to FCORD and other anti-Sansha forces in the war, and reopened Sealbreaker Labs, calling back some of it's former members and recruiting new scientists.

Becoming a member of FCORD's Council and their Scientific Advisor, he provided the scientific expertise needed for some of the plans made to counter Nation's invasions. Except on very important engagements, he was rarely seen on the field. One notable appearance was during the Monalaz Uplink event.

While his ties to FCORD haven been confirmed, his relationship at the time with other anti-Sansha capsuleer groups, such as Moira and The Synenose Accord, are unverified, but subject of various rumors.

Early YC 113: Disappearance[edit]

In early YC 113, the war erupts full-scale with Sansha's Nation, with attack sizing entire constellations and with forces of unprecedented strength and numbers. This leads to the quick disappearance of FCORD, which was unprepared for attacks on such a scale.

Gehen Sealbreaker left FCORD prematurely, in March YC 113, seeing the current situation as a status quo. (As of today, various capsuleer paramilitary groups are fighting Sansha's Incursions, ensuring they would not settle in an empire system. At the same time, there is no indication that Nation is losing more resources than it wins in these battles.) He made several appearances at the shady establishment The Skyhook, and at Mercy's Keep. Both facts are notable as Pr. Sealbreaker has developed an habit of using video transmissions a lot, and rarely going in person anywhere. The nature of his discussions there is unknown, although he was seen discussing with some infamous pilots - see Controversies - Sansha's Nation.

From March 113 to July 113, Sealbreaker's whereabouts were largely unknown, and it seems he was "off the grid" for most of his contacts. Sealbreaker Labs offices in Genesis went largely silent, with only a few of his lieutenants remaining there to ensure day-to-day management.

End YC 113: Arek'Jaalan original project[edit]

In July 113, Pr. Sealbreaker re-appeared, answering publicly to a call launched by another member of New Eden's scientific community, Dr. Hilen Tukoss. He then promptly joined the Arek'Jaalan project, rumors stating that his former disappearance might be related to this project, as he would have been on a mission to gather data in Anoikis.

In August 113, he gathered a group of 12 capsuleers and over 30 000 civilians in Sealbreaker Labs, and embarked on a journey in Anoikis to gather data for Project Astrosurvey, a part of Arek'Jalaan's Multidisciplinary Division he was in charge of. Registrations at CONCORD suggests he received protection or support from an alliance of capsuleers living in Anoikis called Talocan United.

YC 114: Sisters of EVE[edit]

During the year 114, Gehen Sealbreaker went under the radar most of the time. Records show evidence of his work with the Servant Sisters of EVE, mainly their scientific division. Little has filtered about the extend of his work with them, however.

He was also seen doing business with various members of the Angel Cartel at the time, most notably PRETA Light Industries of Naraka, an alliance of Angel-loyalist capsuleers.

It is during that year that he lost his left arm - for the first time. (See Personality, above)

YC 115-116: Return to Monalaz[edit]

For the past two years, Gehen Sealbreaker has been seen operating around Monalaz on a daily basis, and records show that Sealbreaker Labs own both planetside colonies and orbital structures conducting research there. One can only speculate about the nature and extend of this research, but the most logical would be a continuation of his work on astrophysics and long-range space manipulation, possibly cooperating with Sister of EVE scientists near the EVE Gate, maybe even studying the gate itself.

Sealbreaker Labs never hid the fact that it was operating in Monalaz despite the CONCORD ban on doing so, and official stance of Arek'Jalaan to avoid defying this interdiction. Off the record interview with a CONCORD officer suggest Pr. Sealbreaker is not prosecuted for these actions because of the important damages local Blood Raider infrastructure suffers from weekly raids he organize in Genesis. - see Enemies - Blood Raiders.

End YC 116: Arek'Jalaan's resurgence[edit]

In the late months of YC 116, a scientific race to understand the recent developments of Sleeper Drone AI pushed Arek'Jalaan to resurface, and take part by competing with the four empires "for the sake of all of New Eden". However, without Dr. Tukoss' leadership, Arek'Jalaan proved too demobilized to enter the race successfully. Frustrated by this, Gehen Sealbreaker became more active on the political scene again, pulling strings and pushing ideas to reorganize Arek'Jalaan.

This effort is still ongoing, and symposium is underway to explore the ways Arek'Jalaan could rise again.

Controversies and enemies[edit]

Theology Council[edit]

His curiosity and taste for logic quickly disconnected him from Amarrian Faith. This has previously caused him problems with inquisitors of the Theology Council. Template:Quote

Anti-slavery movements[edit]

While Sealbreaker is undoubtedly progressive and liberal, his views on slavery are naïve and paternalist. While not being actively rounding up slaves, and generally treating them well, he expressed publicly before that he believed that "(...)some people needed directions in their lives, for their own good." This attitude did not prevent him from befriending some Matar capsuleers, sometimes developing a mutual trust with them.

It must be noted that during his life in Providence, he was targeted personally by activists close to Ushra'Khan due to his use of Prisoners of War in potentially lethal experiments.

Blood raiders[edit]

Although Gehen Sealbreaker does not interact with Blood Raiders in a direct way, he is extremely disliked by some of their members due to the important disruptions in their activities he and his associates cause in Genesis.

Sansha's Nation[edit]

His former engagement as a member of FCORD and, more generally, researcher working to counter the technological advance of Sansha's Nation makes him a target for Nation's minions or even Sansha-loyalist capsuleer militias.

A controversy exists around his motives in participating in the war effort, with some voices stating that he was only hoping to get his hands on some of Sansha Kuvakei's technological wonders, and had little interest into the abducted populations.

While the extend of their discussions is unknown, and some witnesses stated they were not entirely civil, some of Sealbreaker's detractors mentioned he was seen discussing at The Skyhook with the infamous Kybernetes Moros, a well-known Sansha loyalist, and could have conversed with Drake Arson, now a Sansha commander.

New Eden's scientific community[edit]

Pr. Gehen Sealbreaker's colleagues see him with mixed views. While his competence is never questioned, his ethics and attitude are often seen as a problem. Current members of Arek'Jaalan reported he was "hard to work with" and "kept much to himself", which explains how little documented his research is. Despite being an active member of Arek'Jaalan Multidisciplinary research team, he is sometimes seen as having hidden motives or generally scornful with those he supposedly consider "inferior scientists".
