Character Background[edit]

Corporate Career[edit]

Early days[edit]

Shey Navarr entered the pod pilot ranks with the intent to become a universally renowned scientist. Unfortunately science was not paying any bills and Shey Navarr was forced to take a job as a cargo hauler for a now defunct corporation, Carlyle Corporation. After a short period Carlyle Corporation’s CEO decided it was time to move on and shut the doors, leaving Shey Navarr and the other former employees out in the cold and looking for more work.

While exploring the strange environs of the Okkelen COSMOS, Shey Navarr met up with Jasmine, a pod pilot flying for The Curmudgeon Society. A few days of discussions led Shey Navarr to the realization that the experienced pilots in The Curmudgeon Society had a wealth of knowledge they were ready to share. Shey Navarr joined up and, after a month or so of learning, moved to The Curmudgeon Society’s alliance headquarters in the Mamouna constellation in the Derelik region. A brief and bloody campaign by numerous enemy corporations in Mamouna caused the alliance to shift their headquarters to Minmatar high security space. Having grown to love the low security environment of Mamouna and having secured the services of two Ammatar research agents in the Podion system, Shey Navarr was unwilling to follow the alliance and bade a friendly good bye to the fine pilots in Curmudgeon.

Learning phase[edit]

It was during this time in Mamouna that Shey Navarr realized the power of electronic counter measure fitted Scorpions, Blackbirds and Griffins. Combat Recon and Force Recon ships did not yet exist in New Eden and ECM was so powerful that a well fitted Scorpion or Blackbird was heavily feared. A pod pilot who was good at jamming was highly valued by friends and reviled by the enemy. Shey Navarr put all effort into becoming as exemplary a jammer as was possible. Frequent solo trips through the unsecure Curse region in a ECM fitted ship were always exciting and almost always survived.

Competence with the Blackbird led Shey Navarr to a new corporation, Spectre Six. Spectre Six billed itself as a dedicated ECM combat unit that fought wars in New Eden with the intent to extract money from other corporations unwilling to face them in combat. Shortly after Shey Navarr’s joining, the corporation entered the Interstellar Starbase Syndicate alliance and moved to the Pure Blind region. It was during this move that the Rook Combat Recon ship was first introduced. Shey Navarr emptied his wallet and became one of the first owners of a Rook, taking it along to Pure Blind.

Spectre Six’s time in Pure Blind was filled with combat and danger. The ISS holdings in the South had come under pressure from other alliances and the ISS Navy had been deployed there for protection. ISS corporations in the North were to hold on their own. The Rook came in very handy as it was one of the most feared ships flying. As an example to pod pilots who were not flying in New Eden at that time: Shey Navarr was flying solo through relatively untraveled areas of Pure Blind and came upon a gate to which he did not have a bookmark (this was before New Eden upgraded navigation beacons to allow warp to zero on gates). Approximately 14 kilometers out from the gate a Cerberus piloted by an enemy pilot with a year more experience than Shey Navarr jumped in through the gate. Being outside of scramble range Shey Navarr did not attempt to engage first but continued to move slowly towards the gate. The enemy Cerberus pilot watched for a few seconds and decided against engaging. “Sexy ship” came over local as the Cerberus pilot aligned to warp towards his next gate.

In addition to flying a Rook for combat purposes, Shey Navarr’s time with Spectre Six and ISS was filled with surveying moons throughout Pure Blind and destroying Guristas pirates. After a few months the CEO of Spectre Six, Monkey Fingers, started leaving the corporation for brief periods to build other corporations. This behavior eventually caused the Spectre Six members to decide to disband and move on to other pursuits.

The middle years[edit]

Shey Navarr returned to Mamouna and Curse where a new corporation had taken up residence. Chaos Faction had made Podion its home base and Shey Navarr bent to necessity, joining the local power rather than relocating to another area. The time in Chaos Faction was largely uneventful until the corporation decided to join an alliance. Chaos Faction’s CEO quarreled with other members of the alliance and soon left Chaos Faction, tearing it in half and actually ordering some members to move over to his new corporation. Shey Navarr received that order and decided going it alone in Mamouna was better than continuing to live with their drama. Shey Navarr once again became a solo pilot in the Mamouna and Curse environment, living day to day and avoiding death from hostile groups with the judicious use of ECM heavy ships.

It was during a trip through Curse that Shey Navarr met up with members of the Carthum Research, a pair of ship builders, operating in Curse building ships for the Corelum Syndicate. Shey Navarr joined them and began building ships out of the XX9 system in Curse. Eventually the Coreli were pushed out of Curse by the ascendant Tau Ceti Federation and moved to fight for the GBC in Fountain. The Carthum Research corporation was integrated into Coreli Corporation in order to avoid Bob alliance taxes. Very shortly after deployment to Fountain Shey Navarr realized the contempt with which Bob viewed its allies and regretfully departed Coreli Corporation.

Later years[edit]

For a short time Shey Navarr returned to Mamouna and went back to the daily excitement of slipping in and out of dangerous situations. During a trip through Minmatar space Shey Navarr met a small group of newer players and joined them in their new corporation, Core Element. Core Element grew and its CEO, Tyra Blade eventually established an alliance, Blackguard Brigade and at the urging of Shey Navarr, moved the alliance to Mamouna. Once again Shey Navarr was a member of a good corporation within an alliance that was fighting to hold the Mamouna constellation. Shey Navarr still looks at this period as the golden age of his career. It was during this time that one of Shey Navarr’s research agents in Podion had a breakthrough and created a Tech II blueprint original. Science was finally paying off.

After months with Core Element, Shey Navarr found that duties outside of a ship were too pressing to continue flying and a few months hiatus were taken. Shey Navarr passed out all of his possessions and retired from flying a pod.

After six months the allure of the stars brought Shey Navarr back to space and he rejoined Core Element. Unfortunately the Tech II BPO was now in someone else’s hands and Shey Navarr, to this day, does not know its final disposition.

Core Element had not used the six months Shey Navarr had been gone foolishly. They now were fighting for the right to hold space in the Stain region. Shey Navarr joined them there. Within a few months Core Element, unable to generate loyalty from the other alliances in the area, left Stain and returned to Mamouna. It became quickly apparent that the dynamics of the Blackguard Brigade alliance had changed. During a declared war, while Core Element was fighting for its life in Mamouna, another corporation within the alliance was busy suicide ganking ships in and around Rens. It appeared evident that loyalty from outside was not the only thing missing. Shey Navarr departed after only a few months back.

Shey Navarr continued to operate throughout Derelik and, only occasionally now that TCF was in full control, in Curse. Eventually Shey Navarr joined up with another relatively new alliance that was just moving to the Derelik region. The Junta quickly grew and even branched out a corporation into the Wildly Inappropriate alliance to help take Geminate. Shey Navarr spent her time in The Junta building a small corporation, Advanced Production Project, in order to funnel the Tech II ship building talent within the alliance into a profit making venture. Shey Navarr operated the Advanced Production Project through alts and, with the help of some very dedicated people, managed to earn well over 20% profits in just 3 months for those alliance members who had invested in the project.

It was during the period Shey Navarr spent with The Junta that a new and exciting discovery was made in New Eden, wormholes. Operations at Advanced Production Project had slowed due to moon mineral prices so it was an easy decision to shut down operations, pay off the investors and move into a corporation that was colonizing wormhole space. That corporation broke apart when the co-CEOs decided to move to alliances in unsecured space in search of 24 hour a day combat. However, Shey Navarr’s love of the mysterious wormholes has not diminished and he can still be found exploring a wormhole in a Rook.

Current times[edit]

Nowadays Shey Navarr creates and sells POS and jump clone ready corporations or spends time slipping in and out of trouble in Derelik. While the excitement of Mamouna and Curse are no longer the great attractions they once were, Shey Navarr will occasionally be seen passing through just to make sure things haven’t changed too much.

Other Occupations[edit]

Shey Navarr has engaged in a number of other occupations that were outside of the normal corporate duties. Those occupations include POS deployment for pay, temporarily joining corporations for education purposes and running side corporations for industrial purposes

Shey Navarr successfully ran a corporation that worked with over 3 billion ISK from outside investors and returned over 20% in a short 3 month period.

Shey Navarr edited an alliance weekly newsletter that received mixed reviews from alliance members.

Shey Navarr is currently engaged in forming corporations capable of putting up POS in high security space and utilizing NPC jump clone services. Once formed the corporations are sold to individuals who desire that capability.

Associates[edit]

People Shey Navarr would self destruct a freighter for[edit]

  • Easy Boy: Shey Navarr first met Easy Boy during their time together in Carlyle Corporation in 2005. A very mellow Icelander, Easy earned Shey Navarr’s loyalty for life just by being a very good person. Easy Boy runs his own personal corporation, Non Corp, and Shey Navarr has not actually been in the same system with Easy since late 2005. Should anyone ever see Easy during your trips through New Eden please say hi from Shey.
  • Tyra Blade: Tyra is the CEO of Core Element. One of the absolute best and easiest to get along with people in this game, Tyra has that very rare quality of absolute loyalty. He expects it from the people around him and he gives it unconditionally to the people he trusts. Although Shey Navarr doesn’t fly with Core Element any more, Shey would pour every ship and every ISK in his possession into any battle that Tyra asked him to. Being broke and flying an Ibis would be better than letting down a person like Tyra.
  • Pink Fuzz: Knowledgeable and capable are two words that define this pilot. Shey Navarr learned a huge amount from Pink and trusts Pink absolutely.
  • Harcole: Although Shey Navarr and Harcole never spent a great amount of time working together, Shey learned to trust and respect Harc due to his no nonsense, no drama approach to running things. Harcole is the sort of person who expects you to give your best and does so in return. He can be trusted to do the right thing and that is something that is very rare in New Eden.
